After all the turmoil of the last two years in Thailand, the summer season 2011 was again very successful on Koh Phangan island in the Gulf of Thailand.

July and August brought us great weather and good diving conditions. Many of our regular divers have visited us again and new divers explored the Koh Phangan’s dive sites. It’s usually the season where families visit the island. Koh Phangan’s beaches and dive sites are free of currents, not too deep and excellent for snorkeling. It’s paradise for the whole family.

Angthong National Marine Park and Koh Tao were again the most popular destinations for group and family trips. These places are ideal for snorkeling, introductory to scuba diving and dives for experienced divers. This year we’ve spotted many turtles, sea snakes and porcupine fish.

Our most famous dive site Sail Rock has shown its best side, with visibility up to 40 meters and a big variety of fish life. Unfortunately not many whale sharks this year. Our trips to this dive site were fully booked almost every day.

The Haad Yao Divers Instructor Team was busy with many novices in diving including a number of Junior Open Water divers, ages 11 – 14 years. Younger children aged 8-10 years have made their first bubbles under water either in the swimming pool or the beach of Haad Yao. And all were more than thrilled by their new hobby.

All in all we had a very nice summer time with a lot of fun, great guests and good dives. We hope that some of them will join us next year again for new dive adventures.

Now it is quieter on the island, this gives us the opportunity to service the equipment, bring the boat in the shipyard for the yearly refresh and prepare the dive center for the winter season.
